The course is conducted in accordance with the STCW Convention's regulation VI/2, sections A-VI/2 and table A-VI/2-1.

After completing the course, the participant must have knowledge of:

  • Take command of a lifeboat or man-overboard boat during and after launch
  • Operate the engine on a lifeboat
  • Handle survivors and rescue craft after evacuating the ship
  • Use devices to indicate position - including communication and signaling equipment and light and smoke signals
  • Provide first aid to survivors.

The course is carried out as blended learning, where the first half of the course is carried out as e-learning on your own and in advance of the practice at the course center. Mail with link to the e-learning is sent from the Knowledge portal.

 



Prerequisites


Course participant must have completed basic training in survival craft and man overboard boat according to table A-VI/2-1, before participation in this course.



Duration


Duration of the course: 1 day

  • 1 day is 8 school hours
    • E-learning makes up about 4 school hours and practice makes up about 4 school hours.
  • 1 school hour is 45 minutes.


Submission


The e-learning must be 100% completed and passed in advance of the practical exercises at the course center.

Seafarers who are to be responsible for survival crafts other than Fast Rescue Boats.
