The training shall provide competence in:

  • Organization of emergency preparedness
  • Search and rescue
  • Use of extinguishing agents
  • Fire and extinguishing agent theory
  • Physiology
  • Protective equipment

After completing the training, the participant must be able to:

  • carry out search and rescue with the right equipment
  • describe the organization of emergency preparedness at offshore installations
  • use proper extinguishing and protective equipment to extinguish a fire
  • describe physiological loads during search and rescue in hot and smoky environments
  • use protective equipment and smoke diver equipment correctly, as well as perform safety checks of the equipment


Prerequisites


Basic safety training.

Personnel who have a smoke diver function in search and rescue teams must submit valid documentation of health examinations and physical tests (fitness tests and strength requirements) for smoke divers. Ref. Offshore Norways guidance.



Duration


Duration of the course: 5 days

  • 1 day is 8 hours with a minimum of 6 hours effective training
  • 1 hour is 60 minutes
