The course is conducted in accordance with Regulation VI, Part A, Chapter VI, Table A-VI/3 of the STCW Convention and includes theoretical and practical training in firefighting management.
After completing the training, you should be able to:
- Lead firefighting operations on board ships
- Organize and train fire teams
- Inspect and maintain facilities and equipment for fire detection and firefighting
- Investigate incidents involving fire and prepare reports on these
Prerequisites are a valid Certificate of profiency for basic safety courses or previously completed basic safety courses for seafarers.
If the competence has expired, a 12-month sailing time with a valid Certificate of profiency for basic safety training must be documented. The sailing time is calculated 5 years back from the start date on the advanced safety course.
Duration of the course: 4 days
- 1 day is 8 school hours
- 1 school hour is 45 minutes
