The course includes the requirements set out in regulation VI/2 of the STCW Convention, sections A-VI/2 of the STCW Code and table A-VI/2-2, minimum competence requirements for the master of a Fast Rescue Boat.

After completing the course, the participant must:

  • Have an understanding of Fast Rescue Boat's construction, maintenance, repair and equipment
  • Take responsibility for launching equipment and tools as they are normally mounted, during launching and hoisting
  • Take command of a Fast Rescue Boat as it is normally equipped, during launching and hoisting
  • Take command of a FRC after launching
  • Operate the engine of a Fast Rescue Boat


Prerequisites


Course participant must have completed basic courses in survival craft and man overboard boat according to table A-VI/2-1, or hold a valid Certificate of Proficiency (deck, engine or ship electrician officer) and completed Fast Rescue Boat course according to table A-VI/2-2, before participating in this course.

This must be documented by a valid Fast Rescue Boat course or proficiency certificate that meets the requirements of the STCW Convention Rule VI / 2 no. 2. Upon completion of HMOB competence, a 12-month seagoing service with a valid course or certificate for Fast Rescue Boat must be documented. This is calculated 5 years back from the course start date.

Duration of the course: 2 days

  • 1 day is 8 school hours
  • 1 school hours is 45 minutes
