Medical first aid is provided in accordance with Regulation VI/4, Sections A-VI/4 and Table A-VI/4-1 of the STCW Convention and contains theoretical and practical instruction.
After completing the course, the participant must have knowledge of:
- Lifesaving first aid
- Medicine chest
- Anatomy and physiology
- Toxicology
- Patient examination
- Back injuries
- Burns
- Fractures
- Treatment of rescued persons
- Radio Medico
- Pharmacology
- Sterilization
- Cardiac arrest
- Psychology
The course is carried out as blended learning, where the participant on their own and in advance of the course day at the center has completed an e-learning. The e-learning is followed by 0.5 course days with practical exercises.
Course participants must have completed Medical first aid according to A-VI/4-1 before participating in the course.
Duration of the course: 1 day, where 50% of the day consist of e-learning
At the training center: 4 school hours
- 1 school hour is 45 minutes.
The e-learning associated with the course must be 100% completed and passed before you attend practical exercises at the course center.
The course is a requirement for seafarers who will provide medical first aid on board.
