After successful completion of the course, the participants should be trained as specified in STCW regulation I/6 and section A-I/6. The course aim to assist in giving the prospective instructors/assessors an understanding into the psychology of learning in order to design and conduct competence-based training and assessment.
This course is developed in acordance with IMO Model Course 6.09, 2017 Edition. ‘Training course for instructors’ and DNVGL-ST-0024 ‘Competence of maritime teaching professionals’,
Themes in the course are:
The course involves conventional teaching and training methods, participative training techniques (such as task solving, both individually and in groups) and exercises involving ‘role playing’. The course has a large practical component in which the participants implements the theoretical guidelines by planning, creating, executing and evaluating their own training. The experiential nature of the course being conducted largely using own subjects, provides the participants the opportunity to hone the necessary skills required to be a professional instructor.
