GWO - Basic Safety training Offshore Refresh

This refresh course aims to review and enhance previously acquired knowledge and skills from the BST Offshore through both theoretical and practical training.

The Basic Safety Training Offshore Refresh covers the following five modules:

• Working at Heights Refresh: This module provides a review of essential techniques and procedures for working safely at heights. Participants will refresh their knowledge on the use of personal protective equipment, risk assessment, effective methods for performing tasks at height, and basic rescue operations.

• First Aid Refresh: This module revisits key concepts and practices for administering first aid in emergency situations. Participants will refresh their skills in identifying life-threatening conditions, applying immediate first aid measures, and correctly using first aid equipment to save lives and prevent further injury until professional medical assistance is available. 

• Manual Handling Refresh: This module focuses on refreshing ergonomic principles and manual handling techniques. Participants will review methods for lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling loads safely, as well as procedures to avoid musculoskeletal injuries. 

• Fire Awareness Refresh: This module provides an update on fire prevention, hazard identification, and fire management procedures. Participants will refresh their knowledge on using fire extinguishing equipment, coordinating personnel evacuation, and ensuring everyone is accounted for in the event of an unmanageable fire. 

• Sea Survival Refresh: This module revisits essential skills and knowledge for surviving at sea. Participants will refresh their understanding of emergency evacuation from vessels, the use of survival equipment, and signalling for rescue. Practical exercises in water survival will ensure participants can respond effectively in maritime emergencies.

Certificate Validity Period:

• The certificate issued upon completion is valid for 24 months.
• Certificates and training records must be renewed before the end of this validity period.
• If a certificate expires, the participant must complete the full Working at Heights training to obtain a new training record.

Target audience

Personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields. Personnel that perform job functions that have been risk assessed by their employer or their workplace duty holder as a function, where training according to one or more modules of the BST standard may mitigate of the identified risks.

Instructors
