Advance Rescue Training

The Advance Rescue Training modules are designed to equip participants with the essential skills required to perform injured person rescue operations in Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs). Participants will learn to utilize industry-standard rescue equipment, methods, and techniques that exceed the requirements set forth by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) for Working at Height.

Training Objectives:

• Rescue in WTG Hub, Spinner, and Blades: Participants will be trained to conduct rescue operations within the turbine's hub, spinner, and inside the blades. This includes techniques for handling various emergency situations safely and effectively.

• Rescue in Nacelle, Tower, and Basement: The training will also cover how to perform rescue operations in the nacelle, tower, and basement. Participants will learn about specific challenges and how to overcome them to ensure safe rescues.

• Single Rescuer Advanced Rescue Operations: Participants will have the opportunity to carry out advanced rescue operations as a single rescuer, both in the hub, spinner, and blades. This focuses on individual skills and decision-making in high-pressure situations.

• Advanced Single Rescuer Operations in Nacelle, Tower, and Basement: Participants will also learn to perform advanced single rescuer operations in the nacelle, tower, and basement using appropriate rescue equipment and methods.

Upon completion of Advanced Rescue Training, participants will be equipped to access and rescue injured individuals from all sections of the wind turbine. The modules can be delivered independently or as part of a comprehensive training program, depending on the needs of the participant or organization.

Certificate Validity Period:

• The certificate issued upon completion is valid for 24 months.
• Certificates and training records must be renewed before the end of this validity period.
• If a certificate expires, the participant must complete the full Advanced Rescue training to obtain a new training record.

Target audience

Personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields. Personnel that perform job functions that have been risk assessed by their employer or their workplace duty holder as a function, where training according to one or more modules of the BST standard may mitigate of the identified risks.
