GWO - Manual Handling

The aim of this module is to: Minimize the risk of musculoskeletal injuries for wind technicians working in the wind industry through both theoretical and practical training. And enable participants to carry out their tasks and activities with the highest level of safety in a wind turbine environment

 

The course focuses on:

  • Proper Ergonomics: Ergonomic principles and methods to reduce strain and prevent injuries.
  • Positive Manual Handling Behaviour: Reinforce best practices and maintain positive behaviour in load handling.
  • Safe Execution of Manual Tasks: Techniques for the safe handling and transport of objects.
  • Manual Handling Regulations: Applicable rules and guidelines for manual handling.
  • Hazards and Risks Associated with Manual Work: Identify and assess any new or updated hazards and risks related to manual handling.
  • Anatomy: Knowledge of body anatomy in relation to manual handling.
  • T.I.L.E. Method: Revisit and apply the T.I.L.E. method (Task, Individual, Load, Environment) for a systematic approach to manual handling.

Target audience


Personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields. Personnel that perform job functions that have been risk assessed by their employer or their workplace duty holder as a function, where training according to one or more modules of the BST standard may mitigate of the identified risks.
