GWO - First Aid
The aim of this module is to enable participants to identify signs and symptoms of life-threatening situations and administer safe, effective first aid within the wind turbine industry (WTG) environment. The primary goal is to save lives and prevent further injury until the casualty can be transferred to the next level of care.
Course Content:
- Correct Use of First Aid Equipment: The ability to identify and apply the necessary equipment safely and effectively in an emergency.
- Understanding the Importance of and Initiating Immediate First Aid: Recognizing the significance of a rapid response and the implementation of first aid measures to reduce injuries and save lives.
- Performing Lifesaving First Aid Using the X-ABCDE Method: The ability to apply a systematic approach to assessing and treating injuries to ensure optimal patient care.
- Proper Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED): Being capable of correctly operating an AED, including assessing when and how defibrillation should be performed to restore normal heart rhythm.
Certificate Validity Period:
- The certificate issued upon completion is valid for 24 months.
- Certificates and training records must be renewed before the end of this validity period.
- If a certificate expires, the participant must complete the full First Aid training to obtain a new training record.

Personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields. Personnel that perform job functions that have been risk assessed by their employer or their workplace duty holder as a function, where training according to one or more modules of the BST standard may mitigate of the identified risks.
